☕️ you need more than a bunch of reels

✨ Rolls up sleeves and hands seltzer to husband ✨

Anyone wanna tell me why you're treating social media like the be-all, end-all of your marketing funnel?

Because while social media is great for discovery, attention is NOT the whole damn point.

Those views you're obsessed with getting? Great. But what happens AFTER someone sees your post? Do they keep scrolling, consume 14 more reels, and completely forget you existed?

Because if soooo, then those views aren't exactly doing much for your business.

And those followers? Cool. But only if they're actually the right people AND you've given them somewhere to go next.

I fear the algorithm has polluted your brain into thinking all you need to run a successful business is a post to go viral and then you're all set.

But like...lol. No babe. That's wildly misinformed.

And as much as I'd love to give you a copy+paste, clear-cut answer as to what you should do... I can't.

Because every business is DIFFERENT. Therefore, the strategy that will work for you will be too (duhhhh!!)

This is honestly why I have so much beef with the people who are like "use this hook that blew up my account for success!!!" bc absolutely tf not. Your business is not their business, and that will not frickin work.

BUT I DIGRESS.

Here's at least a good rule of thumb to follow when building your content marketing funnel👇

AWARENESS CONTENT

This is where your beloved social content comes into play.

ts job is to get noticed, spark curiosity, and make the right person stop scrolling and think, “ohhhh tell me more!" But you can't expect a 7-second reel to do the same job as a sales page. (side eye)

NURTURE CONTENT

This is where your social content can keep working, but now you need somewhere to go DEEPER than a fleeting attention grab.

Think email newsletters (hi, hey, hello!), blog posts, podcast episodes, etc.

This is where people get to spend more than 7 seconds with your ideas, so you're able to build familiarity, trust, and stronger connections.

CONSIDERATION CONTENT

plzzz tell me you have a website. TELL ME YOU HAVE A WEBSITE.

Because if you don't, IT'S TIME to invest in one bb girl.

Your website is your digital home base. It's where someone can really figure out who you are, what you do, whether you're legit, whether you're the right fit, and how the hell they can work with you.

And I could give a flying fck what some bro on Instagram told you... YES. You need a f*cking website becauseeeee your social content should not have to carry your entire marketing funnel on its back. (!!!)

Let social media do what it's good at: getting the right people interested.

Then give those people somewhere to go so they can actually get to know you, understand what you do, and decide whether they want more.

Oh, and also ✨sales content✨ because YES, those proposals matter, and how you present yourself RIGHT BEFORE someone gives you their credit card is really f*cking important.

And idc how many views you rack up, how many followers you have, or how popular you are in the algorithm... if you're missing any of those content areas, selling your offers will be a f*ck ton harder than it needs to be.

Feeling a lil overwhelmed as to what you need to focus on first, or want an outside perspective on where your content funnel may be falling apart? Then maybe it's time to schedule a marketing strategy intensive, so you know exactly what's working, what's not, and how to get more freaking clients from your content.

Catch ya next week,

Marissa

Hitting you with a pre-PS because I've got some important housekeeping to share with you: I'm currently booking new Social Strategy clients (start date as early as November!), and these spots are already filling up! If you've been eyeing my social media marketing services, I recommend reaching out sooner rather than later so you don't miss out. I'm speaking about content repurposing at the upcoming Creative Growth Summit, a free, virtual 2-day event for creative entrepreneurs next week. Get...

Can I be so honest with you? There are some days (like today) when I have BUCKETS of information I want to share with you. I consider sending emails at times that aren't Wednesday at 8 am EST, and I have to physically restrain myself so I don't publish every post on my Instagram feed. And truthfully (because I'm weak and only human), on these days I go buckwild posting trial reels (since y'all can't see it hehe) bc I'm itching to get the content OUT. Out of my brain. Out of my camera roll....

So like why do we all act like our audience is sitting there with a spreadsheet, tracking every post we've ever shared, just WAITING to catch us the second we repeat ourselves?? lollz lemme assure you - there isn't a soul in the world who remembers your content like you do. The whole damn point of marketing is to repeat yourself enough to be heard and remembered. So like, deep breath. You do not have to talk about a client win once and then ban yourself for life from ever mentioning it again....
