☕ the bots ain't there yet

You should already know how I feel about filler/trend/fluff content. It's hollow at best, and I've been exhausted by it for literal years.

(I shared some additional context about why this type of content bothers me to my core in this post - in case ya feeling nosy)

But now with ChatGPT becoming so many people's go-to source for content creation...

The internet is more polluted with hot garbage than ever before.

Which is one of the key reasons why you're starting to see more "how I do XYZ" content all over your social feeds (vs. the previously popular "how to do XYZ" type content)

People can get a bullet point summary about literally anything from ChatGPT in 3 seconds flat, which means your fact-dropping social media post isn't as helpful as you think it is. People are exhausted by facts and generic info (we're literally drowning in it).

Translation: your audience doesn't need you to provide more of that sh*t. (they've got robots to do that for them now)

So what do they need (and want) you for???

The stories of lived experience, specific personal examples, and all those juicy unique perspectives you're sitting on right now.

Double translation...Your content needs to connect - not just fill space (or meet an arbitrary post quota you've set for yourself each month).

And surpriseeeee: the message I shout from the rooftops is about to smack ya in the face once again. It all comes back to your brand, baby.

You can’t create depth or connection in your content if you don’t know what’s anchoring you in the first place (!!!)

If you don’t know what your brand stands for, what your voice sounds like, or what your core brand foundations are...you’ll always be grasping for shiny ideas or you’ll default to whatever’s trending in the moment.

Meaning you'll lose the plot. You'll lose your voice. And you'll lose your opportunity for your people to find you.

Which is the whole dang reason you're going through the trouble of creating content in the first place, right?? To leverage your opportunity for best-fit clients to find you and inquire about your services?

Soooo yeah. Figure out what's rooting you in place. Who are ya? Who are you here to serve (truly) and why them? What do you believe in? What core values are leading how you show up each day? What areas of expertise are you the most passionate about?

Figure all that out, and you'll start seeing your content attract your people in real time.

Catch ya next week,

Marissa

Understandably, when most business owners reach out to me, they have the same goal. Sign more clients, make more money, etc. And usually, their brain at this point jumps straight to things like: “I should probably post more social content.” "Maybe I should invest in SEO or AI search discovery." “Do I need a better funnel??” “Maybe I should rebrand…again.” But I want to challenge you that sometimes the bottleneck isn’t visibility or discovery. It’s your process. Specifically…your website,...

I hate to be the one to tell you, but no…you’re probably not going to convert high-ticket clients using social media alone. And that’s coming from me - a girlie who lives, breathes, and swears by content being the only thing you need to build your brand and attract best-fit clients. But ahem.... “content” doesn’t just mean Reels and carousel posts. Do most of my clients find me on social? Yes. Do they tell me my content is one of the reasons they felt confident hiring me? Also yes. But be so...

Has anyone else noticed the income claims resurfacing on IG lately? Not the wild “I made $100K in 10 days” bullshit… but the opposite. Vulnerability posts where people with over 50k followers admit they made $1–4k in a month. 😅 And listen, any money is good money. I’m pro-honesty, always. But these posts fire me up because they’re the wake-up call people actually need... What we see online rarely matches what’s happening in the business. Take a few service providers I admire. They’re insanely...
