☕️ what if you're not hard to find? just hard to hire...

I hate to be the one to tell you, but no…you’re probably not going to convert high-ticket clients using social media alone.

And that’s coming from me - a girlie who lives, breathes, and swears by content being the only thing you need to build your brand and attract best-fit clients.

But ahem.... “content” doesn’t just mean Reels and carousel posts.

Do most of my clients find me on social? Yes.

Do they tell me my content is one of the reasons they felt confident hiring me? Also yes.

But be so for real, in none of these situations did they see one post and immediately hit inquire.

That would be psycho behavior.

Realistically? They did some digging. Some sleuthing. A lil digital deep dive into my website, my long-form content, my service pages, my portfolio…you get the picture.

Now, I’ve literally signed clients who said, “I searched for XYZ on IG and you popped up,” when I asked how they found me. Like, literal cold lead turned hot and ready to buy just from content alone.

But that Instagram search wasn’t the decision driver. It was just the discovery method.

And this is where so many people get tripped up.

Think about it—how many times have you searched for a service on social? You scroll the list of people who pop up. A few profiles feel like an immediate no, so they’re instantly booted off your mental shortlist.

(That’s their brand at work, btw.)

And for the ones who make it past that first filter? You don’t instantly DM them like, “Hi, I’d like to hire you!!" (Because again...psycho behavior)

Instead, you creep. You scroll their content. You check their vibe. And if you like what you see, you probably click through to their website for a deeper dive.

Why? Because discovery is just the first step. There needs to be depth in order for someone to make a decision.

This is why going viral, landing on the explore page, or popping up via search doesn’t automatically translate to new clients.

Attention doesn’t equal conversion.

Yikes, I know. Crazy to think about what happens AFTER you go viral. Everyone talks about visibility like it's the prize, but in reality it's only a teeny tiny portion of what really matters. 😜

So let’s bring this back to you. If someone lands on your Instagram profile tonight, what happens next?

Can they clearly understand what you offer?

Can they quickly get a feel for your process or packages?

Can they easily find your services, see your past work, and reach out when they’re ready?

Or are you unintentionally leaving them on read because there’s no clear pathway from “I like her vibe” to “I want to hire her”?

Vibes matter. They open the door and make people feel comfortable. But vibes don’t sell $5K services. Your content ecosystem that amplifies your brand does.

And that’s why we need to stop thinking of content as just “what I post on Instagram,” and start thinking about how all your touchpoints work together.

  • Social = discovery + warming
  • Newsletter/podcast/blog = depth + decision support
  • Website = clarity + conversion

You don’t need a massive funnel. You don’t even need a hard CTA on every post. You just need a clear, aligned path that helps people move from stranger to client when that’s the right path for them.

Catch ya next week,

Marissa

Understandably, when most business owners reach out to me, they have the same goal. Sign more clients, make more money, etc. And usually, their brain at this point jumps straight to things like: “I should probably post more social content.” "Maybe I should invest in SEO or AI search discovery." “Do I need a better funnel??” “Maybe I should rebrand…again.” But I want to challenge you that sometimes the bottleneck isn’t visibility or discovery. It’s your process. Specifically…your website,...

Has anyone else noticed the income claims resurfacing on IG lately? Not the wild “I made $100K in 10 days” bullshit… but the opposite. Vulnerability posts where people with over 50k followers admit they made $1–4k in a month. 😅 And listen, any money is good money. I’m pro-honesty, always. But these posts fire me up because they’re the wake-up call people actually need... What we see online rarely matches what’s happening in the business. Take a few service providers I admire. They’re insanely...

If there’s one thing you should know about me…it’s that I never forget a face. Ever. So imagine my surprise when I’m casually checking out a potential wedding venue’s Instagram and who pops up in almost all their photos? None other than deviled egg man. Let me back up. This is a throwback to my single-girl era, when Sunday afternoons sometimes meant meeting a dating app stranger for a drink. (Which is actually how my fiancée and I eventually found each other, so don't hate) However, on this...
