☕️ your audience is like a turd, you can't rush them

How many times have you tried to walk the dog *quickly* because you're running late, but your dog basically looks back at you like, "yeah...nice try buddy," and keeps sniffing, slowly trying to find the best place to drop a deuce?

Your timeline is irrelevant here.

What you want doesn't matter because your dog has to do what he has to do, and you quite literally can't rush sh*t.

That's basically the same thing that happens when you post content expecting your audience to react immediately.

You'll straight up be ghosting your audience for months and then be like "HI LOOK I'M LAUNCHING SOMETHING NEW!" and then wonder why no one came banging down your door as soon as you announced it.

Bruh. Come on.

You can't rush them.

Because at the end of the day, your content isn't technically for you. It's for your audience so they can make a confident purchasing decision.

Yes, it's helping to sell YOUR offers, but it's doing that by meeting THEIR needs.

So that mentality of "this is a fire drill and I need it to happen now" timeline is irrelevant.

Just because you hit publish on a post or send out an email regarding a sale or limited-time offer, doesn't mean your audience is ready to buy.

No matter how enticing the offer might be or how spot-on the messaging is, if your audience isn't ready to buy, they're not ready to buy. Period.

Which is why it's important to post content consistently - no matter if you're actively selling something right now or not - because this is their 'sniff time' to prep them for 'finding the right spot.'

You may not be physically converting your audience with every post, but you're nurturing them, building trust, and laying the foundations for an easy yes once it comes time to sell.

And this is the part I think a lot of business owners overlook because while they're so busy trying to acquire new eyeballs on their content (aka the 'I want to go viral' crowd) - they forget they have a huge net of people already in their ecosystem that just need a little more love and details in order to be pushed over the edge and feel ready to inquire.

Every asset you produce is a slow drip of more information that will either have them go "oh, tell me more" or "hmm, maybe this isn't right for me"

The goal is to give your audience everything they need so that when the time is right, they have everything they need at their disposal so they can make an informed decision and snatch up your offer.

So with that being said, if you're ready to stop posting in a panic and start building the kind of consistent presence that actually gives your audience enough sniff time to find their spot... I built the ClickUp Content Calendar System to help you stay organized, keep showing up, and stop treating your content strategy like a fire drill.

You can grab that here for only $9.

And if you want the whole thing mapped out with someone who can actually look at your brand and your content and tell you what your audience needs to hear before they're ready to say yes, that's literally what I do.

My DMs are always open, so feel free to give me a hoot and a holler if you need some support.

Catch ya next week,

Marissa

Content will always mirror the business model sitting underneath it. Think about what smacks you in the face every time you tap through Instagram stories… Screenshots of Stripe notifications along with messages like: "Just signed another client!!!" "Another enrollment came through!" "Just woke up to three more sales!" And after seeing enough of those posts, your brain starts doing that annoying thing where it goes, “hmmm, I don’t think I’m doing enough…” or “why can’t I do this too!?!” or...

*brings out whiteboard* When I discovered Bring Me The Horizon in the Myspace days of middle school, ya girl was obsessed. They were originally a deathcore group. And I absolutely made my entire personality from about 2007-2014ish. Fast forward to 2026 and their current music would give you absolute f*cking whipflash if you weren't following the journey because now they're basically pop rock/alternative music??? 🥲 Needless to say...They've pivoted a lot over the last 20 years. And because...

My best friend said something in her MOH speech that I can’t stop thinking about, and it honestly comes full circle and will directly influence how you’re showing up online, so stay with me here. For context, we’ve been friends since the second grade, when we met in 2002. Meaning she’s been by my side through it allllll. The scrapbooking phase. The emo kid phase. The scene kid phase - or as she called it - the neon phase. The ‘make her record videos with me and post them on the internet’...
